I.Silicone Rubber’s structure

What is the organic silicone rubber: The basic structure of the organic silicon products unit is composed of a silicon-oxygen link,  and the side chain is connected by various kinds of organic silicone atoms and other groups. Therefore, in the structure of the organic silicone products containing both "organic groups", and "inorganic" structure, the special composition and molecular structure to make it combines the characteristics of organic matter and inorganic matter functions in one. And compared to other polymer materials, the most outstanding performances of organic silicone products include:

(1) Heat resistance properties

Organic silicone products are based on a silicon (Si) 0 oxygen key chain structure, the bond energy of the C - C key is 82.6 kcal/mol, while the bond energy of the Si - 0 key is 121 kcal/mol, silicone products own thermal stability. Under high temperature (or radiation exposure) molecular bonds will not break down. Organic silicone is not only can resistant to high temperatures and low temperatures but it can also be used in a wide range of temperatures. Chemical properties and physical-mechanical properties, along with the temperature change are small.

(2) Weather resistance

The main chain of organic silicone products is - Si - 0, no double bonds exist, therefore silicone products are not easy to get UV and ozone decomposition. Organic silicon is better than other high polymer materials in the thermal stability of the irradiation resistance and weather resistance ability. In the natural environment, organic silicone can serve over several decades.

(3) Low surface tension and surface energy

The main chain of organic silicon is very smooth, the intermolecular force is much weaker than hydrocarbons, therefore, with low molecular weight hydrocarbons viscosity, silicone has small surface tension and surface energy but is strong in film forming ability. This kind of low surface tension and low surface energy is the main reason why silicone for various applications: hydrophobic, foam, foam stability, adhesion, lubrication, polishing, and other excellent performance.



II.The Common Application of Silicone Rubber
